Yokjido

Last Saturday, Kami and I headed out to an island off of the coast of Tongyeong for the day. It was a little muggy and rainy, but it was still nice to get out of town for a bit. Lately the air here has been GROSS...so muggy and humid. I think they call this monsoon season, but hopefully it'll be over soon. It's been raining so much and I'm not really enjoying it.

Anyways, back to Yokjido (yoke-gee-doe)...it was about an hour and 15 minute ferry ride from Tongyeong and it was quite a large island...well bigger than I was expecting. When we arrived at the island, we took a bus all around the island so we could see it all. That took a good while, so after that we just walked around a bit and then got the next ferry home. There wasn't a beach or anything, so we didn't have too much to do there.

Here are a few pictures from the day:

Here is a map of Yokjido and surrounding waters. We were on the big one at the bottom and I'm pretty sure we took the red line all of the way around the island.
Here is our old school bus that took us around the island.
Some views of the islands...can you see how dense the air is?
A random statue of buff men in short shorts.

On the ferry ride home.

In other news, I'm getting SOOO excited for our trip to Beijing. Only 3 weeks to go! I got my guidebook in the mail today, and Kami and I are going to get our visas tomorrow! I can't wait!!

Random Happenings #2

I haven't been ignoring you all, I promise. I just haven't been too into taking pictures lately...shocking I know! Here are a few I've taken though, so enjoy!

A few weeks ago, Kami's musician friends had a concert in town, so we went to check it out. It was right next to the water...such a beautiful place we live in! Kami did a song during it, but I know she'd kill me if I posted a pic of her. Ha.

Here's the band. They were fun to listen to.

Here are some views of the water. I never get tired of looking at these.

On a totally different note, there is a student at ILS that is soooooo cute. He's in Kami's class, but we all enjoy seeing him! Yesterday, we look at little video of him so you can enjoy too!

Again on a totally different note, in less than a month, Kami and I will be in BEIJING!!! Whoo-hoo!! We're so excited! We're heading there for our summer vacay and we'll be there for 6 days and 5 nights! Man, I can't wait!! If anyone has any 'must-dos', just let me know!

That's all for today! Just wanted to say hello!

For Your Viewing Enjoyment!

I know it's been a month...I know. Not much has been going on since Kami and I worked weekends during May, so now that we're back to having lives, I'll try to post more often.

This video is just for your enjoyment. Kami and I went to the noraebang (sp?) with our Korean friends last night and had a ball. These guys and gals love to sing and dance. Here is just a smidgen of what we enjoyed!

Happy May 10th!

May 10th has a double special meaning to me...it's a day I get to remember the wonderful women that have touched my life for Mother's Day, and it is also the day I graduated from Mercer with my masters!

I've had many mother figures in my life, and I am thankful for all of them! Since I don't have pictures of all of them on my computer, I am not able to post more pictures. You know who you are and I'm happy you're all in my life!

My mother and me at graduation one year ago.

It seems like just yesterday I was walking across the stage to accept my diploma at Mercer. It was such a happy day...I don't think I quit smiling all day! Even though so much has happened since then, it seems like time has flown. I miss lots of people from my days at Mercer and have fond memories of my time there.

My old classmates!

On another note, this past week marked our 6-month mark in Korea. I can't believe it! Sometimes I feel like I just got here, and some days I feel like I've been here a while since I'm so comfortable. This just means I only have 6 more months to figure out where to go next!!

Goseong Dinosaur World Expo

Happy Cinco de Mayo (Mexico)!! and Happy Children's Day (Korea)!!

Today was a fun day! For the first time since January, we had a random day off...so Kami and I headed to Goseong for the Dinosour World Expo. Goseong is only about 20 minutes from Tongyeong, so it was an easy trip! Our friends had been to the expo so we were excited once they told us all the fun they had there. It was quite a large event and since today was a school holiday for most, there were quite a few people here. It was a good time!
The dinos welcoming us to the expo.
Cute decor everywhere.
Remember Sara from The Land Before Time...I found her!!
We were super excited for the 4D show...it was awesome. (You know you dig the glasses on glasses action!)
2009 Expo!
We ran into our co-worker, Sharon, and her family!
Pretty flowers at the botanical garden building.
I love pretty flowers!
A dino building.
Saying goodbye to the dinos.
