Another Day with Abby!!

Today I spent a good portion of the day with my cousin Alichia and her daughter Abby. It's been great getting to see them over the past few days. I took more pictures to share with you. The first one is my favorite!!

Meeting Abby!

I'm in the process of making my annual (or twice-annual) 'Tour-de-Texas' as I like to call it. My first stop is in my hometown so it's been nice to see my family and friends. It always feels good to see familiar faces and territory. Since I sold my car before I went to Europe, I've had to figure out ways to make my 'tour' work. My solution to get from Arlington to Abilene...Greyhound baby!! It was actually really not that bad and I made it safely so that was good! My next stop is Monahans to see my dad and his wife...that'll be on Friday.

One great part about coming home for a little while is that I was able to meet my new second cousin Abby. My cousin Alichia had her on September 4 (just two days later than the birth of yours truly) and I didn't think I'd get to meet her in person until she was already a year old. So getting to see her definitely made coming home worthwhile. I've spent parts of the last two days with Alichia and Abby and am just so excited to get to watch her sleep and squirm and yawn and stretch and do all the cute things babies do!! Here are a few pictures so you can oooohhh and aaaahhh with me:

It seems like many people in my life are having children...such a happy time!! I got a phone call yesterday from my friend I worked with at Mercer that his daughter was born earlier that morning...so CONGRATS DAN & KATIE!!! So excited for those two!! Their little girl, Ava, is definitely going to be a Packers and Brewers fan through-and-through. Haha!!

Anyways, I'm gonna go now but I just thought I'd let you know I hadn't fallen off of the face of the earth...just hanging out...still waiting on visa papers so we can go to South Korea.

Back in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave

Well, I'm back in the good ol' US. I landed at DFW on Wednesday night and have just been hanging out at my mom's ever since. Sorry I didn't let you know sooner...I kinda just didn't think about it. Oops.

Now it is just a waiting game so you can imagine my excitement. Everything has been ordered and now I will just have to anxiously check the mail every day in hopes my criminal check and transcripts make it to me.

My mom is having surgery on Monday so I'm glad I'll at least be home to help her out with that. She isn't too thrilled, so if you can say a little prayer for her, I'd appreciate it.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to keep you posted on the job progress. Until next time...

A Small Detour

Well, after many, many emails and lots and lots of thinking, it has been decided that Kami and I need to make a slight detour back the US to get all of our paperwork in order before we can go to South Korea to teach. We need to have some documents that will take 2-3 weeks to get ahold of, so instead of staying in Prague, we're just going to go back to the States to wait it out. We'll leave in the next few days and then get going with all of the stuff we need to do.

I'm not going home forever...just for a few weeks while we get all this sorted out. I hope to be in South Korea pretty soon, hopefully beginning of October.

I know that God has His hand in everything. For some reason He wants us home for a couple of weeks, so that's where we'll be.

The past week has been pretty uneventful, hence the lack of blogs, but here are a few pictures I've taken to show you.

Birthday...Prague Style

Well, it's official...I'm a quarter of a century old. There is no denying it now. It's quite crazy...like there is a specific moment I can recall when I was in high school and my co-worker was turning 25 and I made fun of her...now I'm the one getting the jokes (thanks Kendall). It's ok though...because I've accomplished a lot in my 25 years and I'm happy with where I am in my life right now.

Anyways...today was quite eventful. Since Kami and I are finished with class and are jobless, we had time to do whatever we pleased today.

Back in July when I was visiting my dad, we watched a show on the Travel Channel about Prague and Samantha Brown suggested trying some Strudl made at a certain place here. So all month I have been wanting to try this Strudl and today was finally the day. We made our way across town and found the special place!! Since it was our one visited, I decided to get apple (the one Samantha Brown recommended) and the curd cheese (because I'm becoming quite fond of that). We found a park close by and dug into our Strudl...and let me tell you, it was darn good!!

After that, we had another adventure in mind. A softball coach I used to work with, Joni, told me that Prague was hosting the European Cup for softball and that Mercer's former softball coach was coaching a team that was participating, so Kami and I put that on our agenda for the day. I mean, how often do you get to see European Cup Softball...seriously. It was quite nice though...seeing something familiar...brought back lots of memories of the Bears! It was fun and I even talked to Coach Foti (for you Mercerians reading this) and he remembered me...I was a little shocked. ha!

After that, we came home, got prettied up and met a former ITTP classmate for dinner in the center of town. There is a Czech restaurant I have grown quite fond of...good food for a good price, what more can you ask. So we had dinner and came home and so ended my day of birthday fun!

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes. It was a happy day and now it's my bed time! Goodnight!!

Just Hanging Out

I know, I know, I'm a horrible person...I just haven't been in the mood to blog the past few days.

I'm still in Prague...have no fear. We finished our class on Friday, hung out with our classmates that night and Saturday, didn't do much yesterday and today we did some more exploring. We will be in our apartment until Thursday morning, after which, we have no clue where we are going. Ha...sounds fun, huh?? Don't worry though, something is bound to come up! :)

That's just my update for now. I'll update more when I know more. Until then...
